Ghanaian-born rapper, songwriter and producer Nicc Duodu, professionally known as Saint Nicc, is opening another chapter of his musical journey with the release of Glass & Stones, a four-track EP that explores the complicated relationship between vulnerability, personal struggles and inner strength.
Built around deeply personal experiences and unfiltered reflections, the project finds Saint Nicc navigating subjects that are often difficult to express. From the weight of family expectations and the pain of losing loved ones to relationship regrets and questions of faith, Glass & Stones offers an intimate look into the experiences that shape a person's character.
The project's title represents two contrasting sides of the human experience. Glass symbolises emotional sensitivity and the possibility of breaking under pressure, while stones represent the resilience developed through difficult experiences. For Saint Nicc, however, neither represents a complete definition of strength. Instead, the two coexist, reflecting the reality that people can be vulnerable and resilient at the same time.
The EP begins with “Dworwulu Junction,” where Nicc reflects on responsibility, misplaced trust and the expectations that come with building a future. His willingness to acknowledge emotional vulnerability challenges traditional perceptions of masculinity, while the recurring phrase, “Glass or stones? Either way we gotta keep steppin’,” becomes a reminder that life's difficulties should not prevent personal progress.
On “Pain & Desire,” the artist explores grief and spirituality, expressing the unanswered questions that follow loss. Its emotional refrain addresses the longing to know whether those who have passed are at peace, capturing the difficult intersection between faith and human suffering.
“Find Love” takes a more personal approach to relationships, examining the consequences of emotional unavailability and the failure to recognise another person's needs. Rather than simply recounting heartbreak, Saint Nicc accepts responsibility for his own mistakes, presenting a perspective shaped by regret and self-reflection.
Closing the emotional journey is “Devil Lies,” a record that confronts fear, manipulation and the distractions that can undermine personal ambition. Through themes of faith and self-belief, Nicc encourages listeners to recognise destructive influences without losing sight of their potential.
Musically, Saint Nicc brings together ambient sounds, R&B-inspired textures and thoughtful hip-hop delivery. His approach places storytelling at the centre of the listening experience, allowing each record to develop its own emotional identity.
The release builds on the foundation established by his earlier project, What If I Scream, which introduced his willingness to address childhood trauma, family dynamics and the complexities of identity. With Glass & Stones, he continues that conversation with a broader exploration of grief, love, accountability and perseverance.
For Saint Nicc, strength is not about pretending that nothing hurts. It is about acknowledging the pain, learning from it and finding the courage to continue. Glass & Stones captures that philosophy in a deeply personal musical statement.
