Tech giant Apple has launched its latest flagship phones, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, at its September 9, 2026 event tagged “Surprise and shine.”
According to Apple and early coverage of the launch, the headline moment was the debut of the company’s first foldable iPhone — widely reported as the “iPhone Ultra,” and referred to in some leaks as the iPhone Fold or iPhone Duo.
What Apple announced about the iPhone 18
Reports say the new iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are powered by Apple’s new A20 Pro chip, built on a 2-nanometre process. The Pro models are said to feature a variable-aperture main camera, a smaller Dynamic Island, an upgraded display and a larger battery.
The foldable iPhone reportedly opens from a roughly 5.5-inch outer screen to a near 7.8-inch inner display, uses Touch ID rather than Face ID, and starts at around $2,000, with higher configurations said to climb above $2,500, according to early reports.
On pricing for the standard Pro models, early coverage suggests the iPhone 18 Pro starts at about $1,199, with the Pro line seeing increases over last year’s models.
The regular iPhone 18, according to reports, was not part of the September launch and is expected to arrive in 2027.
Apple was also expected to unveil other devices at the event, including new Apple Watch and AirPods models.
iPhone 18 in Nigeria
Official Nigerian pricing and availability for the iPhone 18 were not immediately announced. Apple devices typically reach the Nigerian market through third-party retailers and importers in the weeks following a global launch.
