Now celebrating its 7th year, in 2022 the SHE committee decided to share the event national…  | By ahilt21 on March 18, 2025 | UNO's Professor of Flute Dr. Christine Beard performs at the SHE Festival of Women in Music held at the University of Arkansas campus from March 14-16, 2025. Now celebrating its 7th year, in 2022 the SHE committee decided to share the event nationally to bring talented individuals together, creating a space of transparency and support surrounding female identity in music. It has since reached international acclaim welcoming artists from Europe, Canada, and South America. The 2025 SHE Festival of Women in Music includes performances and lectures focusing on the careers and music of those who identify as non-cis-male. Dr. Beard's program featured a work for solo piccolo entitled "(I'm)Migration" (2020) by Talia Erdal, followed by "Pathways of Desire" (2024) for solo flute by Reena Esmail, the latter of which is a Flute New Music Consortium commission for which Christie gave the world premiere at the FNMC New Music Festival hosted by UNO in October 2024.
