Melissa (Tatreau) Holtmeier (Music Ed, 2001) is a full-time Artist-Faculty member and String Department Chair at the Omaha Conservatory of Music (OCoM.) She earned her Masters in Violin Performance/Pedagogy from UW-Milwaukee. She has registered Suzuki training in books 1-7 and O'Connor method volumes 1-4. Melissa has presented "Yoga for Musicians" at UNO, the Omaha Symphony, OAYO, and at several national American String Teachers (ASTA) conferences. Holtmeier was named Private Teacher of the Year in 2019 by the NE-ASTA chapter. She served as state president (2020-22) and on ASTA's national studio teacher committee (2022-24). Melissa sits on the boards of NE-ASTA, Omaha Musicians Union, Intergeneration Orchestra of Omaha, and the OCoM. Melissa has a passion for the business of music and has given talks at UNO, UNL, Midland U and the OCoM.

As a professional musician, Melissa has performed with Mary J. Blige, Rod Stewart, Josh Groban, Michael W. Smith, Johnny Mathis, Michael Buble, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Jane Lynch, Idina Menzel, The Eagles, Mannheim Steamroller and more. Melissa has toured China and the U.S. with the Mantovani Orchestra. She is a founding member, the 1st violinist and contractor of the Mahr String Quartet which performs around 70 events per year. In her years playing with the Omaha and Lincoln Symphonies, Holtmeier has had the opportunity to accompany some of her violin heroes–Itzhak Perlman, Joshua Bell, Philippe Quint, Sarah Chang and Midori. Finally, and perhaps her favorite, she has performed as a local for 13 unique Broadway tours.
