To commemorate the release of his sophomore EP 'Spill' via ever-dependable boutique label Crafting Room Recordings, ELLiS·D (real name Ellis Dickson) and his band hit the pedal to the metal all the way up from Brighton to grace the intimate environs of much loved Camberwell record shop Dash The Henge. In front of projections of the 80s cult classic 'Withnail and I', the quintet played at the back end of the shop, blasting through a set of effervescent, goth-sprinkled glam-punk cuts from the new record. Suffused with spidery, gut-punch riffs, teasing false endings, and discarded inhibitions, the vigour and sweat of the performance threatened to devalue some of the more pricey records on display. With a PA that blasts directly into the street outside, the passing of time draws more curious passers-by to gravitate into the shop and suss out the rock. Among them is a woman we meet named Maria, who drives straight to the front and applauds more enthusiastically than anyone.
No strangers to Dash The Henge, or to Ellis' work, we at Hard of Hearing brought our eyes, our ears, and a camera, and this is what we saw…
