We're throwing a party at Sebright Arms ft. Blood Wizard, Ladylike, Truthpaste and Unlucky.
We're throwing a party next month in London at Sebright Arms in the only way we know how: Inviting some of our favourite new artists to play at one of our favourite grassroots venues. Join us on 26th April at our free event, which will be headlined by Blood Wizard, who appears alongside ladylike, Truthpaste and Unlucky.
For the uninitiated, Blood Wizard is the solo project of Cai Burns, formerly of cult Nottingham band Kagoule. We adored his second solo album 'Grinning William', released at the end of 2024, which shows off Burns' brilliant mixture of instant classic grunge and idiosyncratic playfulness.
ladylike are among our favourites of the rich crop of artists to come out of Brighton in the last few years. Debut single 'Southbound' was an instant favourite of ours, seeming in part to follow worthily in the steps of English Teacher's early work. We caught them at Green Man in the summer, where they won a spot on the lineup as finalists of the Rising competition, but where the band really shine is on the smaller stage, where their sound will blow you away. Sebright will be the perfect setting for them.
We loved Truthpaste's debut single 'See You Around', which came out earlier this month. Evocative of Tapir! in its swells of pastoral atmosphere, there is at the same time a confident defiance of expectations in the turns of the lyric and its gripping delivery. Completing the bill, Unlucky present a meticulously constructed and unique live sound, wall-of-sound rushes of guitar clashing agains wonky beats and clattering electronics.
