Joined by Chicago-based pianist and environmental activist Cacie Miller, they performed music by Marius Flothuis, Vally Weigl, Jan Novak, Erwin Schulhoff, and Leo Smit, the last two of whom lost their lives during the Holocaust. Beard has been invited to present this lecture-recital at the Houston Holocaust Museum in February 2025, and has also been recently added to the Humanities Nebraska Speakers Bureau to offer this program in schools and other state-sponsored venues. Local upcoming engagements include Gallery 1516's "Bagels and Sometimes Bach" concert series on Sunday, November 24, 2024 for which Beard will perform a full program of music by composers who were persecuted during the Holocaust.
