Beard's research in this field is an ongoing tangent of her #flutistactivist initiative, a multifaceted project focusing on topics of social, environmental, and political [in]justice issues which she began in 2019. The HN Speakers Bureau provides communities across the state of Nebraska with engaging speakers who spark learning and discussion in schools, libraries, senior centers and other venues featuring historians, scholars and other experts offering more than 250 different humanities programs. The mission of Humanities Nebraska is to help people explore what connects us and makes us human, with the goal of ensuring Nebraskans possess the knowledge, understanding, and empathy to cultivate a more informed, thoughtful, and just society.
