I'm going to the gym this morning ... on a weekend!

Scary, eh?
However, my main motivation to do this also revolves around getting to listen to this Body Exit Mind album by the New Fast Automatic Daffodils.

WHO?
Why only the greatest band that you've probably never, ever heard of.
I originally learned of them in high school after hearing their debut album (click HERE) and thought, "Huh. That's different." Later on when I was in university they released this sophomore album (1992) and played on campus at the student bar and that was it -- I was hooked.
Guitar squall takes the place of the dub vibes of the band's debut. The tone is heavier and murkier, with too much needless distortion where melodies would have been more appropriate. When the band kicks things into high gear, they excel. Bruises displays a dreamy sound reminiscent of Ride, and the song never fails to impress with its gentle dynamics. American Money sounds not unlike the Wedding Present with more attitude and style. Beatlemania, It's Not What You Know, I Take You to Sleep are all excellent and, of course, the albums big single Stockholm simply rips.

The question is why did I wait so long to listen to this album?
And, honestly, shame on me for forgetting about it for as long as I have. Thankfully, however, that major oversight on my part has been duly rectified as of today and, happily, I still think it's as amazing a listen as it was back then.
Great start to the weekend and a good sweat.
