'Lonely', the first song from Sea Girls' upcoming album Homesick, is a stunning addition to the band's already impressive catalogue.
Henry Camamile, Rory Young, Andrew Dawson, and Oli Khan are the four members of Sea Girls, an English indie rock band founded in London in 2015 that consists of four members. The band is recognised for its indie anthems and passionate live performances.
It's a nostalgic film that follows Henry Camamile and unrequited love (Lara) as he imagines what she's doing today, in a succession of colourful dream-like pictures, directed by James Slater (Sam Fender) and shot on the beaches of Morecambe.
It was written the day Ennio Morricone died, so was initially in honour of him, a nod to the good, the bad and the ugly - hence the whistle and the line 'OK Corral'". It's about the best friend I probably should have gone out with but never did. We both moved on and the band happened and life got in the way for both of us - Henry Camamile
Jack Saunders, filling in for Clara Amfo on the Future Sounds Show, premiered the tune as BBC Radio 1's Hottest Record. The single's lyrics are as raw and honest as any on the album. Open Up Your Head, their first album was just certified by the BPI as a 'BRIT Breakthrough' record, having sold more than 30,000 OCC copies in the UK alone.
In addition to the thirteen songs on the CD, there are two additional tracks on the Deluxe Edition. After returning to his boyhood home in Lincolnshire after the pandemic, Henry Camamile was forced to confront and reflect on incidents from his past, good and terrible, both of which he had previously avoided.
A therapeutic process, Henry leaves nothing to the imagination via insightful narrative and frank songs. After going through some of the most difficult times in his life, the upbeat album comes as a feeling of relief and gratitude for having survived. It's a more mature and ambitious sounding album, and the band's lyrics are more raw and full of catchy songs.
Long-term producer Larry Hibbitt and Grammy Award-winning producer Jacknife Lee form a dream partnership on the album's production side.
