Originally from Iran, Afta Hill now lives and works in Toronto, Canada. An accomplished artist, Afta was born Arya Safakish, but she is also a self-taught master in a wide range of art forms. "Tehranto" Afta's current project (a combination of his hometowns of Tehran and Toronto), showcases his skills as a multi-instrumentalist, singer, producer, sound engineer, and visual artist.
At the tender age of twelve, Afta began his musical career as a producer, going by the moniker. He now has over 15,000,000 streams under his belt. These channels include CloudKid, Kota, Czech Sound Vibes, Discover The Vibes and Casey Neistat.
Afta walked out of York University at the age of 18 to pursue his passion of becoming an artist, despite his problems with drugs, mental illness, and a bad relationship. Afta went from playing for 40 people in shisha lounges to arranging, headlining, and selling out a venue of 350 people in only two years.
He co-founded "Bad Faith Records" a label and publisher, to facilitate a frictionless creative environment. Since its release in 2011, Afta Hill's debut album, "Tehranto" has established him as a pioneering Middle Eastern hip-hop artist.
In 2015, Afta Hill released his first beat tape, "Lean Back". As a 17-year-old Soundcloud curator, his distinctive and strong soundscapes attracted a following. SAFAKASH is still going strong, but he's also experimenting with singing and songwriting. The themes of self-acceptance, guilt, desire, and nihilism are all explored in detail yet simplified in his songs.
Afta Hill's newest music video, Echoed Voices, is the most bizarre ever. After Afta's previous three films (Shiraz, Call List, and Party Started), Mia (a strange lady who abducted him at gunpoint) continues to hold him hostage in her automobile. Afta has a drug-like trip after being forced to swallow an unknown liquid by Mia earlier in the tale, as shown visually.
Intense and provocative visuals, as well as subtitled language, closely mirror moments from Alice in Wonderland in the video (1951). Tehranto, the album from which this song is from, was heavily influenced by this legendary piece of art.
The Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter, Afta's eyes and grin in the dark, Afta sitting at a bizarre tea party, Afta painting a rose red with cards on the ground, and a scenario when Afta sits across from a guy dressed in an inverse of his own clothing who is smoking shisha are all instances of this.
It's had a dance music-infused sound, and Afta Hill's vocals put you in a trance with their delivery on top of it. Afta's vocals and the instrumental's effects and production all play into the song's reverberant theme, making it an entrancing and endlessly danceable smash. Drug-induced excursions may lead to enlightenment and self-discovery even if it was not the goal at the outset of the experimentation.
The video stops abruptly, with Mia pointing a revolver at Afta as he attempts to flee from the vehicle while she is preoccupied with something else.
Kia Mozaffari, who also appears in the tea party scene, collaborated with Afta Hill on this latest video, which is the most innovative and ambitious in this series of collaborations. Together, they've helped Afta's most recent images establish a consistent storey and boost the cinematic approach.
As part of Tehranto, the album from which these tracks are from, Grammy-winning producer FORTHENIGHT and platinum-selling producers GodblessEli and Adriano are involved.
