With his sprawling album "Live, Learn, and Love Without Regets", Panamanian-born, longtime U.S. songwriter ErickOscar offers a candid, stylistically unruly chronicle of a life examined in full color. A bilingual acoustic guitarist and hands-on producer, he approaches music less like an industry strategist and more like a backyard philosopher assembling a family scrapbook from whatever materials happen to be within reach.

The collection refuses to settle into a single sonic zip code. On “Say What I Feel,” a sparse fingerpicked progression swells into a sweeping country anthem about dismantling generational emotional silence the conscious choice to speak affection aloud before the clock runs out. That domestic honesty takes a wry, smiling turn on “Because I Said So,” where steady, foot-tapping country rhythms mirror the sudden realization that he has inherited his father’s exact playbook of parental catchphrases. And before you assume the record belongs solely on a Nashville porch, ErickOscar pivots sharply: “Te Voy a Tirar La Chancleta” brings a syncopated, bouncing reggaeton beat to the universal Latin childhood terror of the flying house shoe, converting an ancient disciplinary reflex into tender filial gratitude.

Such abrupt tonal shifts should give a listener whiplash, yet his earnest personality holds the seams together. When “Even If I Forget” drops straight into a pulsing slap-house groove, the thumping low end becomes an open-hearted pledge of romantic loyalty dressed for a packed nightclub floor. Elsewhere, the record meditates on inner strength from multiple angles. “More Than You Know” lets an intimate indie-pop melody climb to an empowering peak, while “Mas De Lo Que Tu Crees (Pop)” and “Mas De Lo Que Tu Crees (Bachata)” test that same resilience across borders first rattling with the crisp, percussive claps of Flamenco pop, then swaying under the intricate, dancing guitar plucks of traditional Bachata.

Tying these experiments together are prayers like “Show Me The Way” and the gospel-infused title track, “Live, Learn, and Love Without Regrets,” both searching for quiet endurance and humility over shallow vanity. It is an unvarnished, wonderfully stubborn record made by someone who clearly loves the messy truth of his own history. When an artist insists on telling you exactly who he is across every genre he loves, shouldn't we pull up a chair?
