Land Mass, the London-based solo endeavor of Greg Zucker, maps the strange geography of human retreat on the new EP, "Fading". He wrote, recorded, and mixed this entire project himself in an East London flat, and you can almost feel the physical boundaries of that room pressing against the sound. Zucker leans heavily into the bruised, atmospheric territories charted by bands like Slowdive and The National, utilizing these dense alt-indie rock and shoegaze textures to metabolize a profoundly heavy global climate.

The project opens a raw dialogue about our collective instinct to pull away. On “Green Parakeet,” this takes the form of emotional self-exile. The track begins with delicate vulnerability, detonating abruptly into an aggressively distorted, heavy wall of noise before shrinking back to its original delicate frame. The sonic shift expertly mirrors the overwhelming panic of feeling like a burden, followed immediately by the sad peace of letting a connection slowly dissolve.
