BA Music Studies major Natalie McNamara and Associate Professor of Piano Dr. Kristín Jónína Taylor undertook an artistic residency in Lithuania and Latvia this past May.
Their journey began with a presentation about the UNO piano area at the Šiauliai Saulius Sondeckis Gymnasium of Art. This was followed by performances of Mozart concertos with the Šiauliai Chamber Orchestra "Camerata Solaris." Ms. McNamara performed the first movement of the A Major concerto, K. 488. Dr. Taylor performed the famous d minor concerto, K. 466.
The third performance was at the Žemaičių Dailės Muziejus, or Samogitian Museum, located in the picturesque town of Plungė. This was the Palace of the Ogiński dukes, which now houses the Samogitian Art Museum. Ms. McNamara and Dr. Taylor shared the performance with students from the Šiauliai Saulius Sondeckis Gymnasium of Art.
The final performance was at St. Peter's Church in Riga, Latvia, which is a Lutheran Church as part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Latvia. The church began to be built in 1209. Ms. McNamara and Dr. Taylor performed both solo and duo works as part of this concert.
The tour was a great and memorable success.
