Out With Bill Lee, Please: Adam "Ditch" Kurtz Announces Run For Tennessee Governor With Event At The 5 Spot

By Music Mecca on May 5, 2025

(Almost) anybody but Bill Lee, please.

Yes, the horrific ultra-conservative governor has drug Tennessee further into idiocracy with anti-progressive values and overall horseshit leadership. However, as a blazing red state, his sweeping victories come as no surprise sadly enough.

But he's got a challenger.

The following is from the official press release.

Adam "Ditch" Kurtz, Nashville stalwart and steel guitar player for acts such as Joshua Ray Walker, Sunny Sweeney, and Silverada, is officially announcing his candidacy for Governor of Tennessee. As a Democrat who is putting Tennessee first, and advocate for the working class and local families, Kurtz is launching his campaign with a high-energy kickoff event on Thursday, May 15, at The 5 Spot in East Nashville. The event runs from 4:00 to 6:00 PM and will feature live music from acclaimed local songwriters Gabe Lee and Chuck Mead.

Kurtz enters the race as a bold outsider Democrat focused on building a just, inclusive, and economically secure Tennessee. His campaign is centered on bolstering public education, creating consensus around the everyday issues that all Tennesseans face in order to make their lives better and safer, investing in rural communities, and restoring integrity in state government.

"This is going to be the grassiest grass roots campaign of all time," Kurtz says. "Maybe this is what people are looking for, a non-politician who is a good person — with a Political Science degree — who wants to bring all Tennesseans together in pursuit of better education, better health, safer communities, lower costs, and maybe even some country music along the way."

The kickoff party is free and open to the public. Attendees can expect a happy hour vibe filled with conversation, community, and the opportunity to hear directly from Adam "Ditch" Kurtz about his vision for Tennessee.
