Drawing from her love for tried and true country music, bluegrass, and her religious upbringing, Hailey Whitters single, "Prodigal Daughter," is a culmination of her artistry to this point.
Bringing in the prodigious Molly Tuttle for this sharp-witted song, Whitters delivers a supremely catchy number with a bouncy chorus and top tier country instrumentation to match.
Written with Whitters' frequent collaborators Paul Sikes and Bryan Simpson, "Prodigal Daughter" is a reference to the biblical story known as The Prodigal Son, a parable about God's unconditional love for his children told through a tale of a rebellious son running away from his loving father, who welcomes him back with open arms.
For the driving bluegrass energy, Whitters brought in notable pickers such as CMA Musician of the Year Charlie Worsham, along with Bryan Sutton, Stuart Duncan, and Justin Moses.
"'Prodigal Daughter' represents a return to my roots, my faith and what's important to me," states Whitters. "Over the last few years, I've been listening to a lot of bluegrass music, and I've been so excited by the new faces propelling the genre - especially artists like Molly Tuttle and Billy Strings. Their music definitely inspired this one, and I was lucky enough to get Molly to be a part of it and to record with some of my favorite bluegrass musicians like Bryan Sutton, Stuart Duncan, Justin Moses and Charlie Worsham to help me define a new sound for this record."
Whitters has been on the rise since her breakout single in 2020, "Everything She Ain't." Now GRAMMY-nominated and ACM Female Artist of the Year, she has extended the space for women in country music to be more fun, witty, and lighthearted.
Whitters cut her teeth touring with A-list names like Luke Combs, Shania Twain, Eric Church, Luke Bryan, and has appeared at Coachella, Bonnaroo, C2C and more. This year, she is gearing up to perform at a few festivals, including Sand in My Boots and Big Sky Music Festival.
