Valentines Day Special: Karly C Delivers Unapologetic Anthem On New Single 'Dreaming About You'

By Anna Grace Odom on February 14, 2025

Karly C is never going to be what you want her to be.

In her newest single, "Dreaming About You," she sings, "I know I'm not what you're into / But I can't stop dreaming about you." Ironically released today on Valentine's Day, this modern country-pop crossover is an unrequited love anthem.

"Dreaming About You" blends raw country with pop energy, and showcases the unrelenting power of Karly C's vocals. "This song is all about that feeling of wanting someone you know isn't ever going to feel the same way," she shares. "It's vulnerable, it's honest, and I think a lot of people will hear themselves in it. Whether you're a country fan or a pop listener, it's a song that's meant to connect." This track marks another step in this crossover artist's presence in the ever-evolving industry.

As a self-proclaimed "y'allternative" artist, Karly C has immersed herself in a myriad of sounds, including pop-punk, Americana, EDM, and indie pop.

Moving to Nashville in 2016 with a production/publishing deal at Warner Chappel/BMG, she got her start as a songwriter and performer with cuts on television such as Dance Moms. She released her debut collection of songs, TAKE ME AS I AM, in 2018, and has since been featured on pop collaborations garnering radio play around the globe. Her other creative projects include leading the country cover band Kickin' Nash.

Karly C is unapologetically herself in all her pursuits. In interviews, she's stated that her biggest regret moving to Nashville was following other people's advice: "Everyone wanted me to be the next Carrie Underwood. My style is more like Pink and Joan Jett. Since then, I've never looked back. I'm just me. Take it or leave it."

The country pop songstress has been busy this year, recently marrying guitarist, DJ, and collaborator Mike Matisa, to whom she dedicated her recent single, "Today I Get To Say," as a surprise on their wedding day. Along with "Dreaming About You," just this week she debuted her "not to be taken seriously" alter-ego, Faye King, releasing a debut track entitled "Sincerely Us Musicians."

The ambition and versatility of Karly C knows no bounds, and one thing is for sure -- nothing is going to slow down this vocal powerhouse performer any time soon.
