Honoring 2024's Native American Heritage Day with insightful grace and naturesque nobility, Maria Deirisarri delivered her tender new single, "And I'll Fly," November 29th, 2024.
With a winding ode to the purity of land and its people before conquest, the Roswell, Georgia-based indie folk singer-songwriter shares her sentiments on the fresh track.
Starting with a moving melodic structure that weaves rhythm guitar, jogging percussion, and tasteful piano placement, "And I'll Fly" addresses themes like mental health, spirituality in nature, and the pursuit of freedom. Deirisarri's impressive vocal runs and range support the music's total package with both a delicate and demanding presence. "Say my name / Say I'm one / Blanket me / For I've come home," the Columbian-descendant artist calls.
The stunning single precedes its counterpart EP, Si Vis Pacem, which translates to If You Want Peace from Latin. Adding depth and connectedness, Deirisarri describes her own music as the forest singing of itself, and her multi-linguistic songwriting creates a sonic intimacy that goes beyond words with its tastefully crafted instrumental accompaniment.
Behind eclectic use of genre and powerful lyricism that complements a rich board of folk-led instrumentation, it's hard to believe Deirisarri is 18-years-old. "I'm in my first semester of college, I'm discovering just what kind of musician I really am, and I'm building the foundation of where my artistic career is going to go," she says.
She has found triumph in competitions with the International Singer-Songwriters Association and Omega's Got Talent. Dropping easter eggs of what's to come on social media, Maria Deirisarri's young music career is set to soar in flying colors as she achieves beautiful melodic mosaics one folk tune at a time.
