This is my smooth-jazz instrumental arrangement of "Over the River and Through the Wood". It first appeared in 1844 as a poem entitled "The New-England Boy's Song about Thanksgiving Day", written by Lydia Maria Child. It celebrates the author's childhood memories of visiting her grandfather's house. Lydia Maria Child was a novelist, journalist, teacher, and poet who wrote extensively about the need to eliminate slavery.
The composer of the melody is unknown. The lyrics in the song version are often adjusted to the Christmas holiday.
