UNO trombone student, Ben Folkers, and trumpet student Elizabeth Ford have won first and second place (respectively) in the Nebraska Wind Symphony Memorial Scholarship competition.
Ben Folkers, a first-year student at UNO, is pursuing his Bachelor of Music in Music Education at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO), with the goal to teach music in public schools. He is a trombone student of Dr. Pete Madsen. At UNO Ben has participated in the UNO Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Jazz II, Maverick Machine Pep-Band, and various chamber ensembles.
Ben Graduated from Grand Island Northwest High School in 2023. Ben is a student of Dr. Pete Madsen.
Elizabeth Ford is a current student at University Of Nebraska at Omaha majoring in Music Performance with a minor in Psychology.
Elizabeth is a trumpet player currently studying under Professor Jason Johnson and is involved with both the Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Maverick Machine sports band, both directed by Dr. Joshua Kearney for the UNO School of Music. Outside of playing the trumpet, Elizabeth is involved at UNO as a D1 student athlete for Omaha's Women's Swim Team and is a member of the UNO Honors Program. Elizabeth is a student of Professor Jason Johnson.
