'Like Dancers Do' is the gently jangling new single from Adam Hopper and his majestically named backing band The Wimps, recently signed with the eminent Bingo Records. Taking a laurel of leaves from the Melbourne playbook of the likes of Twerps and Dick Diver, and finding home alongside acts like Tapir! and Baggio from these shores, it rolls along with an ease that belies its intelligently see-sawing duet.

Between its two vocal parts, a romantic mismatch is sketched out in the verses. "I love your accent, it makes me feel safe" is answered with, "you're too distracted by the details to hear what I say." This resolves itself, however, with the elemental practicality of love: "I wanna go out dancing, let's stay out tonight" meeting with "I don't wanna argue, I don't wanna fight." The chorus pairs our voices, each promising to facilitate the other to "move like dancers do" as they stumble to keep up.

An exceedingly charming piece, the song is not blanched by its sweetness, owing to the restlessness inserted into its verses. It puts the Manchester-based Adam Hopper and the Wimps on the map of Britain's own fine jangle rock landscape.
