His third single is a brooding personal exploration, brightened by notes of lyrical optimism and masterfully minimal guitar layers.

'Try Again In Green' is the third single from London based folk artist Sonny Syd, following 2023's 'Sooner See' and 'Dry Stone Love.' On this occasion, we hear Syd take on a nostalgic approach as he dives deep into his psyche, reminiscing on childhood memories good and bad.
Syd creates a soundscape which lifts and lowers the listener as he delivers poetic lyrics to reflect the tumult of youth and the ups and downs of family life. Deep and brooding acoustic rhythm guitar plunges you below the surface of a vast ocean with a turbulent storm overhead. It is only as you begin to sink lower into the depths that you start to notice the tranquillity which surrounds you. This ease is carried in by small lead guitar parts with bright tones paired with Syd's vocals as they cascade between the subdued and the hopeful. Towards the three-quarter mark of 'Try Again In Green,' we reach the calm before the storm, which culminates in a short and fuzz-fuelled guitar solo which feels just as much an explosion of frustration as it does a layer of soft rain delivering acceptance.
This latest single from Syd was put together with some helping hands coming from Dina Wilcock on bass guitar and Joe Taylor on drums, plus production supplied by Callum McGuinness (State51). It is yet another spellbinding single from Syd and further showcases his talents for songwriting and sound design.
