The tender narratives nestling within Heka's lo-fi sonic tapestry make for an enthralling, melancholic listening experience.

heka has been delighting on the scene for a number of years now, having originally come to our attention on the 2021 edition of Slow Dance's annual compilation series. Between moonlighting for Drug Store Romeos, heka (aka Francesca Brierly) has been preparing to release her third EP, this track being our second taste of it.
'i'm the thorn' truly opens the taps on the London-based singer-songwriter's wistful, haunting vocal approach that so neatly complements the experimental folk anchor. This time it all feels more country tinged, sultry aired and definitively more eerie. The track offers a neat sneak-peek into new EP, entitled 'Swan Songs', which, set for release in September, will no doubt serve as another showcase of heka's charm and reliable unpredictability.
