The Mid-Week Pickup for June 8, 2022
"A Night in Snowfall City" by Anastasios Tsambazis
""Sometimes" is a melancholy ode to meeting new people, self-disappointment, and the emotions that can ensue. It has a simple structure and uplifting horns to juxtapose the lyrical content. Overall it's a lighthearted tune about life." -- Left on Tenth
""Make Me Go" is about knowing that a person is not good for you, but being powerless to walk away. Begging the other person to make you leave…to push you away. You know this is bad, but it feels so good. It is wrong but feels so right. -- Red Bird Soul
""Ruins" is centered around facing the uncertainties of a relationship and holding on until there is nothing to hold on to. This song follows up Kiki's recent successes with sync placements on 'The Kardashians', 'Selling Sunset', and 'Queer Eye'." -- Drew Schueler x Kiki Halliday
"Dreams Came True" by Alive & Well
"A sophisticated arrangement including a Latin rhythm section makes "Dreams Came True" a perfect jazz tune for sunny days. It is a musical ode to life, which can strike the heart of friends of classical jazz through the vintage sound selection." -- Alive & Well
""Here To Stay" is an 80's influenced indie-pop style song. It would fit well in a variety of indie-pop/pop/feel-good playlists in my opinion. I think this song has a very unique and fun character, pulling influences from The Weeknd, Bruno Mars, and Michael Jackson (rhythmically), but fusing that with a Ben Rector/Andy Grammer spin. The song is about enjoying a relationship and being "Here To Stay" meaning you aren't going anywhere. I hope you find this a good fit!" -- Raymond Revel
"This composition was influenced by Leo Brouwer's El Decamaron Negro and explores the theme of love as the melody bounces like an echo and forms new harmonies as the melody progresses. " -- s.e.r
Growing up in a small town in regional Australia, Travis had a love for music and sound production at a very early age. Armed with some basic musical skills honed through childhood piano lessons, Travis was experimenting with sound-on-sound vocal/keyboard recording by the age of 10 via a setup of multi-deck cassette recorders and custom-made instruments (think kitchen utensils on an ice-cream container for drums!).
With Travis' brooding vocal style and distinctive Ibanez guitar out front, his bands have been a regular fixture across the iconic live music venues of his hometown of Melbourne, and rock festivals throughout Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.
Written from an honest place, Mike E James' lyrics in his hit song "Take Me Whole" continue to passionately speak to his younger audience about the problems that arise with attachment. With the rise of drag queen culture, Mike asks fans not to limit their entertainment to reality TV. He addresses the consensus that there's an overwhelming loss of community with a fresh perspective that invites anyone who doesn't fit the gay status quo to accept themselves." -- Mike E James
