Formed in Cape Town, South Africa, the duo ANVR consists of singer/guitarist Andreas Potgieter and drummer/co-producer Simon Orrey. Andreas, born in Sandton City, Johannesburg, in 1991, and Simon, born in Cape Town, South Africa, in 1992.

At Stellenbosch University in 2011, Andreas played the guitar and Simon was a drummer; after a chance chat, they began to jam and haven't looked back since. Pop-rock with a broad range of abilities and inspirations is being created by these really talented artists, and it's resonating with people.

Originally forming as a grunge rock band in December of 2012, the group evolved into what it is today: a contemporary pop-rock/alternative outfit. As of December 2021, the band has changed their name from "Boston Light Band" to "ANVR," and will continue to perform live under the latter moniker.

'Move Your' was the name of their debut song. At Digital Forest, they produced a pulsating tune. It was the first song they recorded and published, and it was also a turning point in their decision to do so. ANVR has recorded 12 tracks together as a band during the course of their career as full-time musicians. Personal tales, experiences, and sentiments are the driving force behind their work and They've been heavily influenced by bands like Twenty One Pilots, One Republic, Imagine Dragons, Foo Fighters, and X Ambassadors, among others.

Radio Wigwam nominated ANVR for Best Band in 2021. There are four tracks on their latest album, "Live at Sunset Recording Studios," three of which have never been published before and an acoustic rendition of "Glowing in Gold," one of the band's best-known tunes.

It was a first for the band, who generally track their components individually, to record the double voices over the top of a live performance with only lead singer Andreas playing the guitar.

Melancholy pervades the EP, which is filled with tracks about the band's personal experiences. Actual occurrences and "feelings evoked by circumstances" are two ways to think about this topic. As a result, the "live take" approach and an acoustic guitar were used to capture the music's genuine emotion in all its imperfection.

After that, the layered backup vocals were added to reinforce the already-present emotion in the songs and heighten their effect — to really convey the narrative. The members of the band enjoy surfing and being outside in their free time.

We want to make music that people connect with - that they can find some shared experience with. As acts, they aren't beholden to any specific genre or ethos. We are looking to make music that people love. The goal is to eventually play around the world and tour. Travel has always been a massive goal, and to travel and play for people that love our music would be the greatest honour.
