Genie Mendez, Charlie Kellie, and Alex Lowe are members of the UK alt-pop band Lycio, which is based in the Midlands region of England, the United Kingdom. Lycio and Lycio have been fans of music since they were children, and they started producing music together when they were 13 years old, forming an unbreakable friendship that has lasted to this day.

Lycio, a band from the Midlands that is dedicated to encouraging women in music, takes an egalitarian approach to the creation of their music, allowing for an exciting, collaborative, and democratic creative process. Genie Mendez, the lead singer and songwriter, Charlie Kellie, the pianist, and drummer Alex Lowe are all multi-instrumentalists, which allows them to perform totally live with no use of backing tracks or pre-recorded material, according to the band.

Their driving, acoustic instrumentals, as well as their powerful three-part harmonies, have helped to establish their distinctive sound. Songs composed by Kellie Mendez often focus on the vocalist Mendez's statements about her own mental health, and Kellie has even created her own software, particularly for live performance.

Before joining Lycio, Genie was a member of a funk band, and Alex and Charlie were in a band called Caballo Blanco, which eventually became Lycio. Their collective inspirations include artists such as Alt-J, Jack Garratt, Janelle Monae, London Grammar, Jungle, Bonobo, Grimes, Charli XCX, Tim Hecker, Fickle Friends, Imogen Heap, The XX, and Chvrches, each of whom has their own distinct characteristics. However, their unique sound is more in line with the likes of Skunk Anansie, Skin, Santigold, and Little Dragon than it is with the likes of other bands.

It has been announced that their past songs will be released on various well-known music websites and publications all around the globe. A number of Birmingham Music Awards have been nominated for them, and they have also played as the headline act at Sofar Sounds London, which was put together in part by LOCK Magazine. They have received significant support from BBC Introducing, with presenters such as Andrew Marston, Alex Noble, Tim Senna, and Louise Brierly all giving them radio play. They have also recorded a three-track live session for BBC Introducing West Midlands and performed twice at The Big Feastival in Birmingham.

Lycio's affiliation with the BBC has continued, with performances at Chris Evans' CarFest for BBC Children in Need in both 2017 and 2018 and a feature of "Evil People" on BBC 6 Tom Robinson's Fresh Favs in 2018. Lycio has also appeared on BBC 6's Tom Robinson's Fresh Favs in 2018. It has been confirmed that Lycio will play at The Alternative Escape 2019, The Great Escape's younger sister, as well as provide support for YONAKA, Rae Morris, and Self Esteem.

With a swaggering outcome, their most recent release, "I Wanna Know," is an exuberant, sensual, and exhilarating tune from the group. Genie's relaxed-yet-powerful vocal delivery on the chorus rounds out the song. "I Wanna Know," a song that is lyrically structured as a critique of modern-day dating, features Kellie's distinctive arpeggiated synth elements. The lyrics are cool and sensual, with vocal harmonies that are flavoured by the 80s and rhythms that are well-constructed.

Genie's expressive and characterful voice is highlighted in the song's powerful choruses. Her statement of "I Wanna Know" floats over Lowe's impulsive fills and the experimental sound design of Kellie's ecstatic synth sections, which have been meticulously designed to accentuate particular lead bass moments in the song. Regarding performance, the band placed a strong emphasis on "feel" and emotion on this newest track, even foregoing the use of a vocal mic stand during recording sessions in order to capture the passion, performance, and feel of the lyrics.

Besides working in the music studio, Genie volunteers at a comedy club in her spare time, Alex is a music teacher, and Charlie is an information technology specialist. In their spare time, Genie enjoys polishing coins and watching Archer, Charlie enjoys Java programming, and Alex enjoys drinking coffee... if that is even considered a hobby by anyone.

"This song is about navigating flirtation in modern society. Whether it be understanding the boundaries, signals, whether a person is interested or not. It's something that we can never be certain of, because, well, we're not mind readers. Not only that but it also touches on not knowing who should make the first move." - Genie writes
