It's no surprise that Ed Geater is one of the most accomplished artists in the Birmingham UK music scene. He's an accomplished singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, beatboxer, and more.

Ed, who was raised on an eclectic diet of alternative rock, folk, and electronica, as well as classical music, picked up the guitar as a teenager and began creating songs and performing as a beatboxer.

His musical landscapes were inspired by ambient electronic musicians such as Four Tet and Bonobo – but solely employing his organic voice rhythms, an acoustic guitar, and layers of layered electronic instruments. Musicians like Jeff Buckley and Ben Howard are clearly influenced by the resultant sound, which is an electronic, pop-laden and folk-inspired tapestry.

When Birmingham MC Lady Sanity signed to Brox Records, the label's first release, the hip-hop-infused Found a Place (feat. Lady Sanity), was released to critical acclaim and significant support from BBC Introducing. This led to the track being spun multiple times on BBC 6 Music by Tom Robinson and the duo doing a live session with SBTV.

Geater Dubz, a Birmingham-based record label, collaborated with Birmingham-based artist ENiGMA to remix five of Ed's tracks, including Part Of You - ENiGMA Dubz Remix, which was selected into Spotify's Creamy playlist in June 2020 as an original track.

Water Raft, a magnificent piece by composers Subhi and Ed Geater, exudes nostalgic, emotional warmth and sweet memory. The conclusion is awe-inspiring, developing from minimal instrumentation to a hypnotic crescendo.

The song opens with a simple chorus of "gimme love" by Subhi and Geater, who play finger-picked acoustic guitar. The two then perform amazing duet harmonies, which are gradually joined by piano and solo violin to create an emotive development. Geater's production work has a subtle distant ambience that indicates a contemporary edge, even though the music is clearly folk.

Geater is hauntingly beautiful in her haunting falsetto, while Subhi sings, "you're like a Water Raft." The song begins with an electronic pace and synth pads that perfectly complement Geater's eerie falsetto.

Ed Geater said:

Working with Subhi on this track has been a dream. We get on so well and conversation flows easily, so it didn't take us long to relate over the themes of love, reminiscence and nostalgia when we first started writing this track as a duo. We are so proud of Water Raft and it holds a special place in our hearts, so we hope people connect with the emotion that we poured into this song together.
