John Malfoy, whose real name is Michaël Sivager, is an author, composer, performer, arranger, lyricist, sound engineer and music producer. His musical culture is nourished first of all by classical music thanks to his grandmother, Marie-Benedicte Bonnard, lyric singer, master of French song and host of a radio program (Protestant frequency). At the age of 6, he started the conservatory where he studied the violin and singing. Between the ages of 13 and 16, he learned on his own, the drums, the electric guitar, the bass, the piano then fell in love with folk music and wrote his first songs at the age of 17 inspired by artists such as Kevin Prosch, Ben Harper, Damien Rice.
He grew up in an Anglo-Saxon environment, which allowed him to be bilingual very early on, explaining his predilection for writing. songs in English. First a drummer in a first group, then of another in parallel, he performs his first concerts and tours with the Al (h) arm group, then after 3 years of collaboration, started a solo career, he was 20 years old. In 2005, when he was only 22 years old, he left for Australia, a trip that would mark a real turning point in his career, because he produced there his first solo album 'Old Memories' in Fremantle, in the southwest of the continent, in self-production. To promote and distribute his music, he plays in the main streets of the city during the day, and in the evenings in bars concerts and other "open mic nights".
In 2007, back from Australia, he met an artist, Robby Kielt, with whom he will compose and share scenes (La Locomotive, Le Theranga, Le Saï Saï, L'Espace B, Les Cuizines De Chelles) in Paris and its suburbs and in France (Alsace, La Rochelle, Nantes) for a loan of 3 years. In 2009, he took part in the "You Rock, You Win" competition, from which he emerged the winner in the solo artist category. This competition allows him to be noticed by Boudjman Guerdjou alias Boodjie, lead singer of the group Minuit Boulevard who wants to put together a group "Piece of Junk" and recruits him as a lyricist. It is the beginning of a long collaboration and friendship which still lasts today.
To date, John has written two albums for Boodjie and helped write the third one that was released recently. In 2011, he was contacted by the label "Just Watch" to write the album of a soul singer, Tifayne. The single 'Healed' was a huge hit on social media, followed by the single 'Paranoid man'. The album 'Healed' was released in 2013, after which Tifayne entered The Voice competition and reached the quarterfinal.
In 2012, he was contacted by Amanda Zamolo, singer of the Morcheeba group, for the development of his solo project and the conception of a live set. Between the years 2013 and 2016, he discovered the composition of music for lm and worked on many short films and personal projects, the most notable of which is 'Damascus Gate' a 15-minute piece with the theme of con it Israeli / Palestinian.
Since then, John Malfoy has set up his own recording studio based in Rennes. He produces his own music and has just completed his first solo album "Ballads and Wandering Thoughts". Other album projects are currently underway, mixing folk, pop, and rock. Other facets of this atypical character are yet to be discovered.
