Newton Faulkner Unleashes His Christmas Light EP

Sam Newton Battenberg Faulkner was born in Surrey and attended Guildford's Academy of Contemporary Music, where he studied guitar and graduated at the age of 17. He played bass guitar in a cover band before going solo as Newton Battenberg Faulkner. He created the funk-rock band Half a Guy with Matt Buchanan, Dave Elvy, and Nicola Crawshaw before going solo as Newton Battenberg Faulkner. The band failed to release a live self-titled EP, and instead of playing violent metal music in church halls like everyone else, they opted to play uplifting pleasant melodies.

Singing, playing the guitar, creating songs, and arranging concerts finally took their toll on him, and he decided to go out on his own. His first solo performances were at London's Troubadour club, which led to a publishing agreement with Peermusic UK and appearances at the South by Southwest music festival. In June 2007, he performed twice at the Glastonbury Festival, once on the acoustic stage and once on the Left Field stage. Hand Built by Robots, Faulkner's debut album, was published in July 2007 and went to the top of the charts in September after debuting at number three. Rebuilt by Humans, Faulkner's second record, emerged in 2009 and followed his laid-back, acoustic style, which earned him praise and a wider fan following. Faulkner returned in 2015 with his fifth album, Human Love, which featured a copy of the song "Get Free" and united all of his prior inspirations, ranging from world music to sumptuous ballads.

Newton wanted to work with other artists he had lately found via lockdown, and there is no greater example than Nati Dredd, a Scottish TikTok celebrity. They both rose to prominence via their performances of classic folk tunes, and they have now joined forces for this incredibly heartwarming and enlightening rendition of 'Winter Wonderland.' Bringing the similar and important Christmas atmosphere and spirit, the production barely treads on the original's toes before Newton and Nati's engaging delivery welcomes you into this minimalist folky adventure.

You can hear the tremendous excitement and fun that was produced by this album just by listening to this performance. Nati even chuckles at one point, and their truly magnificent vocals work in harmony with one another once more in what is a tune that will instantly bring a smile to your face upon hearing. Newton has chosen a unique approach to what might easily be another duplicate copy release that most other artists follow, but this single and the EP as a whole displays his unwavering passion for all genres of music, making it a joyous collection of tunes that can compete with the greatest.
