Michael O. Unleash New Single Dubbed 'Overload'

Michael O is a singer, songwriter, performer, and producer who draws on personal and cultural elements to create a unique sound. Michael was born in New York City on January 8, 1990, and reared in Portland, Maine, where his upbringing blended American, African American, and Nigerian culture to form the multi-faceted artist he is today.

Michael got admitted to Dartmouth in 2008, where he studied in Global Health and History. There, he joined The Dartmouth Aires, an acapella singing group, and led them to a second-place result on NBC's "The Sing-Off." With over 6.5 million weekly viewers, Michael stunned audiences and was termed "amazing" and "timeless" by Ben Folds of Ben Folds Five, and "a freaking superstar" by Shawn Stockman of Boyz II Men.

Michael came to Los Angeles soon after graduation and released his debut EP, "In the Beginning," in 2013. "In the Beginning" rocketed to the top 5 on the iTunes R&B rankings within 24 hours of its official release and remained the best-selling EP in Northern New England for the full year. Michael featured in the 2015 film Pitch Perfect 2 as the lead vocalist of the singing group The Singboks, soloing on the song "Anywhere You Want It."

He also appeared on the album, which was nominated for an American Music Award for best soundtrack. In May of 2015, both the film and the music were at the top of the charts. Michael has also performed on tracks with renowned musicians such as Flex Cop (One Love Records), Option4 (Nurvous Records), and Gladiator (Fool's Gold Records). Michael has performed all around the world, including sold-out gigs at Merrill Auditorium, The Lincoln Center, and the White House in 2014.

Michael got the HAPA Award for Best Upcoming Artist in November 2017. Through his investigation of himself, his ancestry, and the world around him, Michael hopes to develop relationships that cross ethnic, regional, and cultural borders through his music.
