I am gonna get bashed by the BIG 5 stans here but the recent Melon Top 100 K-Pop Masterpieces list is pure BS, and media manipulation by the BIG 5! Imagine no INFINITE in the Top 10?! Where is I NEED U in the Top 10?! Where is Rising Sun in the Top 10?! Where is IU in the Top 10?! This is where we truly know the power of mediacracy in music politics.

Recently, Melon has announced its list of the Top 100 K-POP Masterpieces of all-time. Featuring many songs that have definite critical acclaim or worse, no critical acclaim at all. This is where we find BoA's No. 1 sitting comfotably at the top spot, followed by EXO's Growl, PSY's Gangnam Style at number 3, BTS' Dynamite at number 4, SNSD's Gee and Into the New World at the fifth and sixth position, respectively. At number seven we have 2NE1's I Am The Best, then followed by Brown Eyed Girls' Abracadabra. Number nine stands the catchy Wonder Girls' Tell Me and finally TVXQ's Mirotic.

I HATE THIS LIST SO MUCH! WHAT HAPPENED TO THE KOREAN MUSIC CRITICS?! I REALLY THINK THEY WERE PAID TO DO THIS. Are we supposed to believe that BoA's No. 1 is better than IU's Good Day or even BoA's own ID:Peace B or even Valenti? I am sure many viewers of this blog will also question what has happened to the minds of music critics on this list. To be fair, Growl is a great song but it is nowhere near EXO's standout, MAMA or even History for that fact. No. 1 isn't also that bad but there are better picks for BoA's diverse reputation.

They did get Gangnam Style right here as it has a deep lyrical root and is a metasong for any phenomenon involving materialism and obscene capitalism. Although, many would say it wouldn't be technical enough, I can compromise with that. However the biggest mockery might be BTS' Dynamite, both for their reputation and this critics' own face. Dynamite is the most foul release they could have picked to be here. Yes, it was GRAMMY nominated and was #1 for three weeks worldwide. But I NEED U could've been here or Blood, Sweat and Tears even Spring Day is a solid match.

Gee being here is also unneeded as INFINITE could've easily clinched this spot with The Chaser or Paradise, both of which also went #1 at Gaon. So I have no clue why they hate indie groups so much. They only listed BIG 5 plus HYBE here. What a stupid joke. Into The New World was the greatest call they can make as they really nailed by picking it. I Am The Best, Abracadabra, Tell Me and Mirotic while all great are not legendary enough for classics like Rising Sun, Why So Lonely?, Good Day, Loving U, and STEP. Where are those?!

This list is a joke and I think we can all agree that this needs to be revised and revisited. I think a better list could be TheBiasList's 100 Best K-Pop Songs of All-Time. Below is a better list than Melon's edgy and paid take on the K-Pop scene we all know and dearly love. I think the music critics involved here don't have any idea what a perfect song should sound like. It might just be opinion, but their opinion is like what a newbie K-Pop fanatic would say, without listening to gripping and mesterfully created releases.

To wrap this up, I need to reveal my 10 Best K-Pop Songs of All-Time from my own series: 100 K-Pop Songs of All-Time. I hope this list is better, and I hope I will not get cancelled. This is just my opinion isn't it?
