It's been a busy day for a day off -- on a long weekend no less.

Already today I've been in the basement of a hoarder rebaiting mice traps as well as up in a hotter than hell attic trying to trap baby squirrels.

Hey, I've said it before and I'll say it again:  not all heroes wear capes.

Anyway, now I'm going to try and settle down to have a little quiet "creative time" while the girls are out with this 'Hot Pants' record by James Brown.

This was the second of two albums I found by James Brown last week.

Believe it or not, this record released in August of 1971, was actually the 32nd studio album by the popular Godfather of Soul.  Essentially, it's several variations around a common theme, that theme being "Hot Pants" and that's fucking awesome.

Unfortunately, it is not considered a concept album by the critics.

Haters.

It's "hot pants" ... aren't they too worthy of a deeper focus?

I think so.

Anyway, James does the absolute bare minimum to get an album's worth of usable material here, and against all odds (as I mentioned already), it's fucking awesome - an uncharacteristically relaxed afternoon cookout of an album with the tightest house band in the universe.

It's absolutely an awesome and contagious album, literally chalked full of only the nastiness wewantthefunk and unhinged grooviness, as well as being a very welcome addition indeed to our growing home collection.
