Bethel Island singer-songwriter and producer Carl Kammeyer has shared a brand new track today; the upbeat but emotionally heavy synth-pop single "Since You Been Gone". Created from the intimacy of his home studio, the song taps directly into the confused, buzzing wreckage of a sudden breakup.

He takes a fascinatingly bittersweet approach to loss. You immediately get hit by a bright, steady, and pulsating progression. It loops seamlessly alongside a highly energetic beat, giving the composition a fiercely danceable foundation. However, underneath that driving rhythmic momentum, Kammeyer is spiraling. His vocals deliver a sincere exploration of longing, desperately asking what went wrong while openly pleading for reconciliation. You find yourself absorbing his deep-seated regret and raw vulnerability through a surprisingly buoyant indie-pop filter.
Carl Kammeyer Bottles Raw Vulnerability in "Since You Been Gone"
It perfectly mirrors the frantic human instinct to cope through constant motion keeping yourself aggressively busy so the pain cannot settle. Kammeyer bottles that emotional friction beautifully, asking us to dance along to his personal heartache.
Does keeping up an energetic physical pace actually pull us out of our profound grief, or merely exhaust us until we finally have to stop and accept it?
