On the opening day, Christie delivered a full lecture-recital entitled …  | By ahilt21 on September 2, 2025 | UNO Professor of Flute, Christine Beard, made her 17th appearance on the program of the National Flute Association's annual convention, held in Atlanta, GA from August 7-10, 2025. On the opening day, Christie delivered a full lecture-recital entitled "Silenced Voices: The Role of Music during the Holocaust and its Forgotten Music for Flute," for which she collaborated with pianist Allison Franzetti and Canadian flutist Christopher Lee. She also performed 2 pieces inspired by the environment for a program entitled "Shifting Landscapes" spearheaded by Chicago-based flutist Marie Bennett, on which Beard performed "Farewell Feathered Friends" for piccolo and backtrack by Jacob TV and the NFA premiere of Christian Glascock's "Global Warning" for alto flute and fixed media.  Beard's schedule remained hectic throughout the convention with engagements in 3 different ensembles: she served as the co-conductor of the ad-hoc Nebraska Flute Ensemble which performed a concert of music by Nebraska composers on Friday morning of the convention; and on Saturday afternoon, she performed with the International SuperFlutes Collective, a professional flute orchestra comprised of flutists from 4 continents (for which she is a charter member); as well as with the National LGBTQIA+ Flute Choir. Dr. Beard will assume a new role within the ranks of the NFA as Chair of the Masterclass Performers Competition, an appointment in which she will serve from 2025-2029.
